KDP tab question

Looking to tab the KDP in my '99. Is the case the same in a '97 as a '99?

I put a tab in my 98 24v. Cummins claim the fixed it in the 24v but there are cases of them coming out. They are not as common as the 12v but $60 for the kit and a little time is cheap insurance versus what could happen if you don't tab it and it comes out.

Im curious as what comes in the KDP kit? All you need is a little tab that could easily made by yourself out of a little piece of scrap metal? I just tabbed mine on my 24v and it was starting to come out and my truck is an 01

pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is this "KDP tab"? and what does it do?

'02 4x4 nv5600, 315's, k&n, 7" cat stack, autometers, airdog150, "LO" vp44, ddp 200's, edge drag comp, valair 3850lb DD, 110lb dual valve springs, studs & o-rings, spool-aid, 66/74/14. 102k miles. My neighbors hate me

it stops this from happening

kdp is a bold that falls out, gets stuck between the gears in there and cracks the timing gear housing,

not the cover the housing, id tab it before it falls out and then you are in some deep sh!t
