Blue pump blues

Installed a Holley Blue because as I drove along with the stock LP the FP would abruptly drop for no apparent reason (in a constant speed cruise). Installed the Blue and all is well for a while. Now I get the same thing. But the FP drop makes no sense as before. In a cruise (running 0 to 1 psi boost) the FP will suddenly drop. If I gun it the FP jumps back up. So long as I'm pushing some boost I have good FP. I'm running the Blue through a relay getting the switch signal from the power wire to the old LP (which is now bypassed and unplugged).

Question: Could it be the ECM isn't sending a constant 'signal' to run the LP?

My "stock replacement" has been "relocated" to the rail in front of the tank and is crappin out off and on according to the guage OR so I thought until I saw this. :fist:
Gary's first video shows EXACTLY the same thing I'm experiencing. All sorts of pressure then a sharp drop and the dreaded "dead pedal" is soon to follow bump it into neutral turn the key off and on and it's fine BUT really is an issue making a left turn and NEEDING the juice to get going and it's not there!!
I've been seriously looking at the FASS pump in the same location with new lines (now) all the way thru to hopefully take any possibility of restrictions thats as I understand it are the major cause of cavitation.
I had planned on getting a pump believing the rrplacement had served its use and was just plain due, keeping the stock filter canister for it's extras and I dont ever plan on 500+ HP so why spend the extra for the FASS fuel and water gizmo NOT that I think it's a bad thing but it has its purpose's.

NEW, Larger fuel lines now that I see what restriction can do will be added into this project as well :thumbsup

Now having said all that I wonder if possibly a "new stock replacement pump" with new lines all the way would be OK and possibly solve these issues??

It would save me the extra expense of a more expensive pump or do I wanna cheap out and possibly end up gettin all greasy doin a VP replacement anytime soon??

That was one very good and interesting bit of information Gary. This has been a long debated issue and I believe you've put the final nail in the coffin of any cavitation doubters. You've just given me one more reason to feel good about switching to a Walbro when I did. Great work and information. I believe that your video should be posted in this forum as a tech article and as a MUST SEE so that all 2nd gen owners can see the inherent problem with an OEM Carter configuration.
:thumbsup

I'm using part of the steel line and new hose. So I am using some of the original line, just none of the original hose.

Not to steal your post but I have the same problem. have stock fuel pump and Holley blue running. My pressure use to be 19 to 20 PSI at idle. drop maybe 5 psi WOT. Friday looked at pressure down to 10 psi at idle drops down to 5 at wot changed fuel filter nothing changed still at 10 and 5. I'm thing the stock pump quit working all together and is blocking the fuel to the injector pump where my gauge is hooked up
