Hey guys. A buddy of mine called me up this morning and his truck is loping really bad at about 1400 RPM at idle. When stopped and rev the engine up it still runs pretty crappy, but when driving and under a load he says it runs perfect. I havent seen the truck when running like this since hes on the other side of the state right now, just goin off of what he says.

He pulled up the code P1690 which I find as--CKP sensor does not agree with ECM CKP sensor.

Its a 2000 3/4 ton, 5-speed, with a PPE lift pump, has good fuel pressure. Edge comp and superchip but they are both turned off and edge is unplugged now.

Replace the sensor and it should be good to go.

what sensor would that be?

The crankshaft position sensor. Have your buddy clean ALL the grounds -batteries, behind the starter, and under the drivers side battery traym and any others that he might fine and see iof that fixes the problem first.

The CKP is located above and behind the starter, which has to be removed to change it.

2000 2500 4x4, QC, LB, rebuilt auto trans w/shift kit, ISS Pro EV2 gauges, AD150, Edge Comp, BHAF, Chevy RWC.

well, I let him know and he called me back today and said he went into mopar mans website and followed the directions on what wires to inspect and check out...he says everything checked out as should be so is kinda thinking its the ECM he also changed the crank sensor and had made no difference.

only check for the ecm is verify resistance from ground at connector to ground. and verify +5v at connector.
