Where to buy VP44

Well rats. My '99 died today (again).
Cut out while driving, right after getting pretty hard on the throttle.
I did all Blue Chip Diesel's tests and apparently my VP44 is toast.

So, my question to you experienced Cummins owners is: where would you buy a VP44? Blue Chip is pretty convincing if you listen to what they say about themselves, but ATS is like that about their transmissions that everyone hates.
I kinda' like DAP, that seems like a straight-up place to buy from.

I went with thoroughbred diesel for my injection pump. They sold a package with a fuel pump too. I think it was one of the better prices, their customer service has always been good, and I haven't had an issue (knock on wood). I would recommend them to anyone. I have bought from them since then, and sent my friends to them too.

I've heard of some people having issues with their pumps from there and them not honoring warranties. Plus if op got it from DAP he wouldn't have an issue finding them on here.

Is there any such thing as a pump with a warranty that allows tapping? Or does this mean I have to yank the Quad until I feel safe enough that I got a good pump.

Aw man... I'm gonna be driving RIGHT BY that place on Monday, but it will be around 2 AM and I'll have 14 horses in a very large trailer. Rats.

Do you guys think that pumps with NEW electronics are the way to go, or are the new circuit boards Chinese junk and we're better off with 20 year old OEM stuff?

If the pump is built by a Bosch Certified shop then the pump has to run 3 hour on the Bosch 815 test stand and pass all the test before the PSG is flashed and ready for service. Would you want to buy a VP44 with a half fried PSG unit that some barely passed on the test stand or worse yet never tested because it now had it life shorted by AC noise from the alternator or take a fresh first time used PSG?

I definitely don't want to put junk in my truck. I thought I'd seen that some reflash existing electronics and some use new electronics on rebuilt pumps.
I'm leery of all the aging electronic components in these trucks. But I'm also leery of poorly made new stuff.
I'm not quite following you on what you're recommending, I think you're saying go for one with new electronics?
The $975 DAP one is what I'm eyeing right now but I'm not doing anything until I'm pretty sure it's a good move. I can drive my trusty old GMC while the Dodge is down... as usual...

Hmm... $1395 from Source Automotive and they will warranty it with a wiretap! That's the frontrunner right now.

I went with Industrial Injection. At the time they had the best price with full rebuild and new computer.

$975 is not bad. My last one at valley was 800 something 5 years ago From Valley. anything over $1050 i spaying too much for aftermarket branding. If you can find a certified shop locally, nothing beats being to walk in to do business and warranty if needed. You can also see any bad parts replaced if you like.
Keep in mind the VP is a Bosch/Cummins produce, not a dodge product. NO reason to pay more for the Dodge name or use Dodge aftermarket resellers. Equal product and equal price is fine, no reason to pay extra for some aftermarket name.
