Is my new rig programmed?

I just bought a 2000 HO 6 speed. It has some work, just new hoses and what not. Stock exhaust (fixing very soon). When i put my foot into it, it smokes... a lot! But I was wondering if someone could help. How would i find out if my rig is on a programmer, aftermarket injectors, chipped or stock? No aftermarket gauges (also fixing soon). My buddies 2001 HO 6 speed does not smoke 1/2 as much as mine (i'm ok with that, just want to know how/why). But that is what i'm comparing his to mine to on amount of smoke put out. Thanks for the input.

Mine is a 01 6spd & smokes alot when I get into also but Ive looked for pigtails where an aftermarket box has been plugged in & can't find anything. I'm guessing that it's been programmed.

My old mans HO 6 speed didnt smoke an at all when it was stock. One time though i did downshift into fifth with a trailer and it dumped smoke like all hell and never did it again. Injectors you wont have any clue on without pulling them. Injection pump could have been changed to a hotrod or something but you should get horrible mileage. You really wont know if you have a programmer unless you get ECU reflashed at dealer and then have no power or smoke.

stock truck shouldnt smoke more than a mere haze, does it run strong? get decent fuel mileage? there could be a number of things, and you really should track down whats going on so theres no problems down the road

check all the boost couplers from the turbo to the intake horn, check for fueling boxes under the hood, check the MAP sensor, etc
