Fairbanks shift kit for 47re???

Hi,

I am about to do arebuild on my 47re and am looking at buying a Fairbanks or a Transgo shift kit for it. Has any ever used either of these kits? How did you like it? Did it seem to make the tranny last longer like they say it does?

Thanks

God bless...

Mark

i did not like the transgo kit.. if you are doing a good amount or power its not enough. i went through 2 transmissions with the transgo shift kit. i than went with the HTS valve body and have 50,000 hard miles on it. still feels like the day it was built. i highly recommend the HTS valve body.

I have done 2 Fairbanks and 1 Transgo. The first fairbanks I did was on my truck, I did the street/strip kit but some how did the full Comp adjustment on my 1-2 shift.... It felt like the dash was going to fall into my lap every 1-2 shift, it didn't help I pulled an all nighter to do it so I could drive 5hr to visit cousins.
The second FairBanks was on "CumminsStacker17" truck and his went better, did the street/strip kit on his and it shifted smooth. Still not as nice as my Suncoast trans.
The Transgo went on a friends truck and he just wanted the towing kit.... it didn't feel like it really did anything but we never put a line pressure gauge on it.

If you can save a little longer and get an aftermarket VB its deff worth it, if not then a shift kit is better than nothing.
