New Members Please Read This Before Posting!!
Theres been alot of new posters who come on and ask a question. The answers you may need to help you vary quite a bit between trucks. We need to know the YEAR, MODEL (2500? 3500? Extended cab?), WHAT TRANSMISSION (Manual, automatic?) It would even be a bonus if you knew what model it was but its not important, what type it is does matter. ARE THERE ANY MODIFICATIONS (Programmer, lift pump, etc) The more info you give us, the better we can help you. Secondly, what does your truck do? Saying "It wont start" doesnt help! For example to the truck not starting....Does it turn over? How fast does it turn over? Say it turns over fast, but wont start, ok so your starter and wiring is ok. Then we can skip all that and get you an accurate answer FASTER! Give us a place to start so we can help you cause the more cummins runnin on the road, the better! Back to the no start topic quickly, first and foremost CHECK FOR DTCs (Diagnostic trouble codes)!!!! This is your best friend and all of our best friend. Your truck is tryin to talk to you, listen to it! Get the DTCs and post em up!Now thats out of the way, heres how you fill out your signature so you dont have to keep writin down what kind of vehicle you have. On the home page click "User CP" at the top of the page and then when its gets there, look on the far left of your screen and youll see "Edit signature" Click that and type for success. Heres a pic to help you below. Welcome to the boards and keep it cummins

Great post! If everyone did this it would save tons of time for everybody. I usually read about 20 posts per day. If this information is not in the post and someone has to ask for it, I usually don't get back to the post until the next day. Other helpful stuff... >Most auto parts stores will scan OBD (On Board Diagnostic) codes for free. There are codes for engine, transmission, brake and electrical systems. >2000 and newer vehicles will show most codes with the key trick. >The key trick: turn ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON. Codes will display, be ready to write them down. >If you get a 1693 code, there are codes stored that the Key Trick may not display. You mus get a scanner on it to find the other code(s). >Mopar1973Man has a website with a plethora of information on these trucks. 2nd Gen 24V Thank you Mike for this great web site. >If you have an engine problem and are able to check the fuel pressure, do so and tell us what the pressure reads at idle, constant cruising and wide open throttle (WOT). >I understand that not everyone has the greatest computer and internet skills or the best spelling (or English speaking?). That's ok and I hope none take offense, but occasionally I get a post that is difficult to understand. Reading what you wrote before you post is helpful. (spell check is a bonus too, but I won't fault anyone for not using it) >Make certain you post in the appropriate section of this forum for your post. Sections are by year of your vehicle, or post in the 911 section of the general forums. Also make sure you start your own thread by clicking the "new thread" button on the upper left. Posting in another thread with an issue unrelated to the thread topic is known as 'hijacking'. >Let us know what city and state (or Province for our friends up north) where you live or are broke down. If you need some help with a project, someone may be able to come assist you or recommend a service facility in your area. Regards, Osar
