Back in Oct I experienced a slight hesitation at freeway speed that displayed check engine light. The max microtuner by superchips tells me codes 1693 & 0121. Reset/deleted codes and all was happy for a couple months. Now recently I have been every three days or so getting the same codes, but with very seriuos hesitation for 5 sec or so, that no throttle is available.
Code 0121 is TPS voltage does not agree with map. 0602 has not popped up for a month or so now, but that was ECM Fueling calibration error. Is there a plug and play part for this problem OR is it a serious repair job that requires a cummins tech. Any help would be appreciated.:thumbsup
Welcome Kenbob. I see that this is your first post. Heck of a way to start off eh? Anyhow, it sounds like it is your APPS that is acting up. You might get away with cleaning it. Take a look at this: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...highlight=APPS also try resetting the APPS: http://www.dodgedieseldatabase.com/apps.htm The other coice you have is to replace the APPS. The two suggestions I gave you are much cheaper. Take a look at the Tech Articles in the second gen 24v section for other assistance too. Again, welcome.

Tom the database has moved .... none of the links are redirecting right you may have to find the correct page for the guy or link him to www.cumminsdatabase.com
Thanks for your input. I was told today that I was looking at the Throttle linkage control module?? $500.00 I was asked about the throttle pedal while going down the freeway. That I do indeed experience dead throttle intermitently. So we are talking about a plug in replacement here or?
This procedure has shown to help 24 valve ISB engines. It is basically teaching the fly by wire accelerator on these trucks to reread the position of the pedal and it's limits. Most complaints this will help with is poor acceleration, improper shifting, bucking in 5 and 6 speeds. Has been known to increase fuel mileage in some instances.
1. Set parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery cables on both batteries
3. Turn ignition key to run(to drain any remaining capacitors)
4. Let truck sit for 30 minutes( this is the recommended minimum)
5. Return ignition to OFF position
6. Reconnect both batteries and secure, not a timed event
7. Turn key to run position(not start) and depress accelerator pedal slowly all the way to the floor
8. Allow pedal to return to top position slowly
9. Turn ignition switch OFF
10.Release parking brake
Thanks DM. That is where I was trying to get him to go before. Kenbob, if that does not work try cleaning the APPS as per the instructions above. If that does not work, well you probably need a new APPS. I have a feeling it just needs cleaned since you said it is only intermittant. Keep us informed.

Thanks for the help on the APPS- If cleaning the Apps does not work?
Replacement question- Can this be changed out very easily and reset as defined in the tech data you sent? Or is their more involved than this to replace? It gave me another hick up this morning, so It's appearing to be a daily accurance.
Thanks again guys!
Thought I would let you guys know that I reset the APPS and the unit worked for a day, then back to ugly business of cutting out. I suspected the units plates were not riding properly on to the fingers. I had to replace it. Haven't had a problem since the replacment, However more like the $450. range for the part.
