just died while driving

Hi guys, im very new to this forum. I have a 00 2500 with Edge with juice and a magnaflow 4" exhaust.
Last monday I was driving down the road at about 70 mph and my truck just died and will not restart. I love my truck and want to do more to it later on. Im upset that I cant drive it.
It just cranks and cranks. My programmer shows lift pump psi at about 9 while cranking. I just found out that my psi while running had been to low. I just read that before I posted this.
I plan to repair it myself and will appreaciate any help.

Well, start by checking for fault codes. Turn key on, off, on, off, on and watch odometer display. Report any P codes that display.

do the trick with the ignition: on off on off on and leave it in the 3rd on position, the codes will read off in the odometer box. Sounds like injection pump, but find out what the codes are

Common guys... if you are gonna tell him his pump is dead, then at least give him the info to verify it instead of making him ask.

0216 is the death code. 10-20psi is what you want at all times.

The 720 code if for RPM speed sensor on left side of OD housing. It might be bad, BUT WILL NOT make engine die.
The 1693 is a general code that indicates a companion code elsewhere. It is one of indicators for failing VP44. Code P0216 is one of the death codes for a VP44. Sometimes the 1693 code is all that is given on VP44 failure.
You might try repriming the system, but the prognois is looking toward a VP44 fail. Sorry.

i had the 1693 code and had to get a code reader to pull the p0216... so if you can get access to a code reader you can see what the companion code for the 1693 is

I did just replace the speed sensor in the tail shaft of the tranny about 2 weeks ago. Would this be the rpm code?

P0720 is the old error code from the speed sensor you replace...

Dieing VP44.. P0216, P1688, P1689, P0251, P0253.. Sometime no errors at all... (Electronic failure).

Lack of fuel pressure causes P0216. (Lower than 10 PSI)

My 2000 just did the same thing, luckily no death code. It's been one week and still cant figure it out. I got a code reader on the way, hopefully that will help me get it straight. Hope it aint my vp44!
