Exclamation once again

Im having this problem to. shutters 4th when its trying to into it and its a brand new built trans with triple disk converter.

It seams every one has the same thing to say on how to fix it.

First off i have my blk/org ground wire wraped in aluminum tape and foil.
I've done the ats bypass on the "apps" and did nothing at all.

New batteries, every ground wire replaced, cleaned alternater wires, replaced alternater tryed noise filter worked about a week and came back!!!!

Im lost and fed up with it, i have a tc lock up switch and it does it on that to.

Any help would be a life saver thanks NATHAN

Hi there. I had the same problem on my -98 2500 sport, but when i changed the engine oil, the problem went away. And knowing that the engine oil and filter has nothing to do with the transmission, i wrecked my trying to understand it. I gave up, but after 3-4 months the TC issue came back, locing/unlocking. One day i was looking down into the engine compartment trying to understand what could have done the "fix" when i changed engine oil. I saw that the connector to the AC compressor was wery close to the oil filter.I started thinking i might had bumped into the wire/connector while changing the oil filter. I wiggled the connector, pulled it off, looked into it, and thought for my self "it can not be that that caused the fix", plugging it back on and closing the hood. The next day i took the truck, and amacingly, the TC clutch stayed locked!! The problem stayed away a few months again, and when it came back, i popped the hood, unplugged an plugged back the connector on the AC compressor, and TC issue was gone again. Understanding that this could not be the origin problem causing it, i started understanding that it was a electrical problem, a problem that must have something to do with changing current level or something. I had read many topics on how to fix it, APPS reset, ATS fix, cleaning grounds etc. I tried the APPS reset, no good. I tried the Navarone noice filter, that made the TC lock up good, but when letting go of the trottle the TC cluch did not unlock, and when stomping the pedal to the floor, it did not unlock and the tranny did not shift down. The Navarone noice filter has a capasitator, causing the APPS voltage signal to slowly increase and decrease, causing the PCM to think that you do not have full trottle or no trottle.

I chose cleaning all grounds in the engine compartment, putting in an extra ground wire from the TPPS, Extra ground wire from the TCM box to the battery. This fixed my problem permanently, it is now over one year since i fixed it.

As other also mention, there is not just ONE fix for this, there can med many different things causing it. Try the things that does not cost any first.

Good luck guys and girls!!

Ok so still yet to find a fix for mine if anyone has any ideas here is a list of every thing ive tried.

Wraped ground wire "blk/org" in aluminum tape, replaced both batteries, replaced alternator, check and cleaned every ground, tried noise filter, tried both suncoast and ats fix and reset the apps numerous amounts of times.

Any other ideas to try would be great. Thanks nathan

Wow am i glad i found this thread, my 02 recently started doing what everyone describes, at first i assumed i had band issues. Called my trans guy( this is the only guy i have ever let drive any of my vehicles lol trust him with my life) he said could possibly be a apps or a few things that if i could leave it with him for a half day he diagnose it for me and check the internals. Problem is now that i moved i am about 40 miles from him so was trying to find time to take it to him. he said it more than likely wasnt the tranny itself since i had no problem in other gears and my temps havent changed, fluid smells and looks brand new. Gonna go threw this stuff tomorrow and see what happens.

If the alternator is the source of the problem, why not just put the filter on it? Also can you get the filters locally (Ex: Radioshack)?

Not related to the switch, that went to a gauge.

If I can get one of these I may install in hopes it would keep my TC working correctly.
