Glad that it worked for you, I just passed on a link that I found on this forum previously. I actually ordered my filter, then wrapped my alt. ground wire, and it worked .....for a while. My filter set in the glove box for almost a year before I put it in, like you I was amazed, I don't think mine had ever been in a good lock up. Everything from shifting to MPG's got better. My filter has been in now for about year and all is well.

My Initial APPS voltage was .446vdc. the tag on the sensor was .591vdc. I was attempting to get 1.2 - 1.5 vdc as suggested in a set up article on Geno's Garage. I followed the correct reset procedure for the APPS. I've driven the truck around a bit but it hasn't thrown any codes and hasn't adjusted the idle down on its own as yet.

Will this idle correct it self from a learning cycle? Or should I readjust the APPS voltage down?

Well this was what I originally did. I did reset my APPS voltage back to match the tag on the sensor (.591) Idle normal again. Also cleaned battery connections and put dielectric grease on them. Helped for a little while but problem came back.

Next I did the ATS wiring mod. Again helped for a little bit but shuddering came back. Next installed RFI noise filter from TRNW on alternator. Problem came back.

Got another RFI filter and installed on the APPS signal wire. Also wired up a TC lock up switch (this should force the fix when engaged).

One thing I did notice, when the problem would resurface after `fixing`it was usually raining. Well have to see if it returns (whin not using the lock up switch).

It's funny you say that, cause I just put a brand new rebuilt trans in my truck and the on only probs I have had for the last week was it not wanting to return to first gear sometimes when I came to a complete stop. Last night it rained a little and the TC started flaring in and out of lock up while in OD.

Well I guess I'm going to have to order a filter because my '98 with about 134K on it just started doing this. I may try checking the battery terminals first but the noise filter seems to be the way to go from what I see here.

Full disclosure: my truck is a 12 valve. Could the "noise" interference still cause the lock/unlock problem?

Alright going to put this one out there. Could this be happening to my 97?? Exactly what yall are explaining at about 45-50 it shifts back and forth. The video that broke down posted on page 3 describes it all. I see majority if not all of you are 24V guys (98-02). Wondering if these problems could help my 97. It just started doing this yesturday.

Navarone noise filter

Installed the Navarone filter and tc locks up perfectly, actually seems to be better than stock.

PATRACY -- Great article on the TC lockup. One question, on the ground under dash you had two (2) wires at the ground point -- why 2 ??

Thanks again for your time in a great article.
