What to look out for?

So im in the market for another cummins. Besides the 53 block what should i look out for? I'm most likely going to be buying a x cab short bed 4X4 either 5spd or 6spd 24V or 12V. It really depends on the body if i go 12 or 24V. I'm not into doing body work or paying for it.

That's pretty broad. It really depends on what your main concerns, goals, etc. are. If you want fuel mileage and power without modding it. Do a 01-02 HO. If you want something to mod, without putting much money into it get a 12valve. If you want something to mod balls out, 2002. If you want something that sounds good, do a 24 valve standard output. If you want to challenge yourself and buy something hard to find, do a 98 12 valve. Or better yet try and find a 2500 with a full Dana 80. If you want something you are going to off road, 94-97. I really could go on, but let's hear what you intend to do.

only way you'd find a 2500 w/ a full on D80 is if it was swapped in from a tow truck, chit, the 3500 24 valves don't even get a REAL D80 right???

The 3500's got a full Dana 80. And only the camper or plow special 2500's got a full Dana 80. And I think that was 98-99 only but I could be wrong on those years.

The Dana 80 Hybrid has Dana 70 outers.

Ford's Dana 80's were all full Dana 80's But I don't think they ever had a Dana 80 in a 3/4 Ton either. I'm not 100% positive, Ford is kind of a gray area for me.
