Blown Head Gasket NEED HELP!!

I have a 1999 cummins that I have had to put a couple head gaskets in now. I have ARP stud kit torqued to 165 # the surfaces are perfect. Edge juice with attitude, air box, 5" exhaust, 125 HP sticks,FASS system and the most I have seen is 34# of boost on the gauge.

What can I do so the BIOTCH will quit blowing head gaskets?

Will O-ringing the head do it?

What type of gasket do I need?

THANKS for any help I can get!!!!!!

yea, have the head checked to make sure it is perfectly flat (if not, have it surfaced), check the block deck for flatness, snag up almost any MLS head gasket and copper spray it, Torq it to spec cold and then let it completely warm up and then re-torque (3-4 times). There shouldn't be a problem....

Checked it last time for flatness and its all fine, block and head. I did not warm it up and re-torque though. The people at cummins told me I did not have to. I just want it right this time.

Is it better to O-ring it?

There's your problem.

They're thinking the torque to yield factory bolts. Not a stud. Also you're tightening the studs too tight. You should torque them down, temp cycle, back off the studs one at a time, then re-torque.

When it blows is it mixing coolant/ oil or is it blowing between two cylinders, or what? If it is mixing fluids, it may not be the head gasket at all, might be a cracked head???

I have not torn it down yet, but last time it was in the front were it was blown. And yes the oil is mixed in the coolant system ( what a freakin mess to clean out ) They checked the head for a crack last time and said there was not one ( I had that done just for peace of mind ) Looks like I will do it again.

Should I run a marine gasket?

What should the studs be torqued at?
