TSB for front steering on 1999???

I believe there is a TSB for 1999 trucks that addresses the pulling to the right. I guess there's a spacer and special toe setting to alleviate the problem. Does anyone know what the TSB is and where I can view the resolution?

I'm led to believe it was on the earlier 2WD trucks, so I think you're fine.

Hey Andrew, never saw an official TSB on it but it was a dealer fix if you went in for warranty work. They put a spacer in the wheel, think it was an 1/8" to help control pulling while braking. They did it on my 4wd but didn't tell me what they did to fix it, so the next time I rotated the tires the spacer went with the wheel to the next corner. It was a few years later I noticed it attached to the inside of the rim.

Thanks, Dennis, maybe I'll check with the dealer. It doesn't pull while braking, but does drift to the right if I take my hands off the wheel. The wheel isn't centered either. I noticed there is a TSB for that too. Guess that's what you get with the first of any new model.

I actually just got my truck back last week for this same thing, it was pulling to the right, and it has destroyed the passenger side tire, by crowning off to the outside. They have now replaced the ball joints, and it seems better, though it still pulls, I think it is definetly time for new tires and an alignment. And my steering wheel is not straight either? anyone know if these problems carry on through 02?

I have replaced my steering box with an AGR unit, and still the truck tends to steer downhill, which of course is to the right since the road's crowned that way. I'd think that a good front end guy could tweak it out, but then it'd pull like heck to the left when you passed someone..

..............this is a 20+ page TSB of what the problem could be!!!._.

Now i need to find a tech. in Indiana/Florida that can find what it is on my truck w/o spending a week in a shop!......im leaning toward the brake draging on the pass. side because theres more brake dust on the pass/side!! [the drivers side has none]

I have heard adding like 1.5 degrees of positive caster will help make it track a little straighter. You can tweak it a little yourself if you mark it on the lower control arms (in case you don't like it) It's not like ifs where if you fool with one adjustment it fools with them all. Basically you want to adjust the lower part of the axle forward. Look at the adjusters on your truck. Loosen the bolt and turn the eccentric. I would do the same amount to each side, that way your axle doesn't "dogwalk". Very small turn on the eccentrics. They have marks.
Deeper offset wheels are notorious for causing this, too. Rough on unitized bearings as well as balljoints and steering. I guess they DO look cool, though.

Oh, and you might bleed your brakes first if you think they are dragging! Maybe give those bearings a giggle, if they are on their way out, they will make it wander and make your brakes drag on that side.
