Remote mounting VP44 electronics?

I know from my GM 6.2/6.5 diesel experience the failures on the IP's of them (electronic ones) were due to heat soak. So there's a company that makes remote mount kits. Could the same be done for the VP44?

I think there was some research done a few years ago on it and it just wasn't feasible.

Who's the resident VP44 guru then? I've got a few questions.

Hmmm doesn't look like much to the top plate. But I do see where some issue would lie. Looks like there's a ribbon cable that attaches to the top plate.

Does anyone have any better pics of the VP44 disassembled?
