I know from my GM 6.2/6.5 diesel experience the failures on the IP's of them (electronic ones) were due to heat soak. So there's a company that makes remote mount kits. Could the same be done for the VP44?

Hmmm doesn't look like much to the top plate. But I do see where some issue would lie. Looks like there's a ribbon cable that attaches to the top plate.
