So I can't decide what to do next and I was hoping for some opinions. My goal is mainly fuel economy and increased low end. It's a DD and I don't tow much. I do NOT want a bunch of black smoke to blow all over everyone but I realize I'll get some. What I really want is more power in the 1200 - 2000 rpm range, this thing doesn't start really pullin until around 2000 right now.
My options (as I see them) are:
Injectors (75-100hp?)
Edge J w/ A
Smarty
P.S. I already have ISSpro EV gauges (boost, FP, EGT), check sig for other stats.
P.S.S. I realize I need to upgrade the fuel system, this is AFTER that. (thanks nkfry)
Injectors all the way. IMO much more reliable and solid power. Fancy electronics are nice but could just make current unnoticed problems noticable...
75-100 wouldn't be bad, but to stick with pure "mileage" reasons I would suggest RV275's and then a programmer later. You could litterally buy RV275's brand new, a Quad Max Mileage box (timing) and boost fooler for the price of just the Edge or Smarty. Just my .02

annd my bad for the double post, computer went screwy
before anyone says the Quad M3 does boost fooling.. its just a timing box for pre-2001. 01-02 does timing and boost fooling.

Plus since you already have gauges then you wouldn't get edge juice w/att. But edge comp.
So the edge Juice w/ att is the same as edge comp but with a monitor?

Smarty will pull really good down low and the injectors should compliment it nicely.
So ur thinkin Smarty first, injectors later... I think I like that idea. I do have a $75 superchips 3705 already though, is the Smarty worth the extra 600 bones ?

So since my truck puts out 235hp, RV275's are +40hp injectors is that right? You think those would be best for an average between economy/power?
yes +40hp is about right. I don't really think there is an "average" between economy and power, but I think it would be your best bet. The stock injectors are OK, which is why a fuel box throwing extra fuel through it works so well, BUT any aftermarket injector will help A LOT more. I put 125s in from stock and still gained about 2mpg, but I have a light foot most of the time.
btw smarty only adds abooout 60hp, its the way it makes it that's impressive.
I sincerely hope some other people chime in with injectors first, electronics later..
