no you dont have to get filter. i got the gdp 2 mic kit. that could be you option for filters. i think it would still be cheaper going that route. atleast thats what im going to do.

The airdog is a fuel air seperator system they also make the raptor fuel pumps which is just a pump that you can run to your current filter setup. They also make a FRRP Factory Raptor Replacement Pump which is the raptor pump that mounts in place of the stock lift pump and connects to the stock fuel filter.
The Kit Comes with a about 12" of 1/2" line going from the pump to the filter housing.

I installed the Raptor 100 and love it. Got the full big line kit with it and also did the GDP 2 Micron fuel filters. The Raptor allows you to still use the factory fuel/water seperator which is actually a good unit...so why remove it. Plus the GDP kit options you to use bigger fuel lines leading to the factory filter as opposed to the 1/4" metal oe ones.
On top of it, the Raptor is built like a garbage disposal so it is very durable...and easy to install

I jus saw that filter kit. I got some questions though... Where do you get the replacement filters? where does it install? Can you install it the same place as the stock filter and just get rid of the stock filter all together? I'm iinterested now. lol

You can get them at your local Cummins location...they are only like $10 there...or from any place that sells the kit itself I would guess...It installs on the inside frame rail under the driver seat area....in my truck ('03) anyway.
Some years mount right by the valve cover area. Depends on the year truck.
Stock filter stays in place and this is an additional filtration unit. You would want to keep the OE filter canister since it's a water seperator also.
Either that or ditch it and get the filter/water seperator combo that GDP sells also.
So wasn't planning on upgrading the fuel system, but when I changed the fuel filter out, I realized the stock lift pump had crapped out as I tried to prime the system after changing the filter.
I went with the Raptor FRRP because I don't have big power plans or anything, just want something reliable that can support a programmer. It's only about $60 more than a stock lift pump and with all the negatives out there about the stockers, it was an easy choice.
Install was pretty easy, instructions were clear and thorough, took about an hour overall working in the driveway at night by myself, and I'm very pleased so far. It is a beefy looking pump and requires some patience to get it installed on the bracket, but other than that a pretty easy install.
Also, props to dieselmanor.com....David Murphy has a military discount on everything there and I ordered it on Monday and received it UPS by Wed. with their regular shipping rate.
Remember.....volume is just as important as pressure. The OEM fuel system is very restrictive because of small ID fuel lines and banjo fittings. So not only do good aftermarket fuel pump kits come with better higher volume pumps but they also come with larger supply fuel line and JIC fittings which are night and day different in flow compared to restrictive banjos.
