I for one have not had many problems with my dodge truck. Everything is holding up right now(knock on wood). I can say i had more problems out of my 02 chevy(duramax). The door lock would fall out any time you unlocked the truck, broke a leaf spring at 20k(still not sure how that happened), and the idler pulley froze up at 30k.

We run E450's at work and they are plagued with Ac problems, vaccum problems all the time, and we are not going to start on the 6.0

So I think all the trucks have there own set of problems. You just have to pick which set you want.:thumbsup

If they ever invent a time machine, Im going back to hunt the man or men that invented the concept of the van.... and take them out! I will stop the insanity that is the modern van with the snub nose. I have been forced to work on some 7.3L E-Series vans, and your one sore and hurting puppy after that. Its uncool in the most severe of ways. Death to the gods of the modern van!

Almost forgot to mention... Ford 6 leakers.....
Stuck VGT turbos
Stuck EGR valves
Cracked EGR heat exchangers.
Injector failure
Head bolts made out of play-doh... alowing head gaskets to blow daily.
Leaking bellows on right side up-pipe.
Easiest way to work on it.... step one... remove cab from frame.

You couldn't get me to buy a 6-Leaker (or 6-Slow?) on a bet. And I am a Ford lover that bleeds blue! Problem is.... I also work on them! I'm dumb.... but I'm not stupid.

I had an '01 7.3 before I got my first Cummins. I had it modded and I can tell you from experience the Cummins is way easier to mod and get more hp out of. It is also more reliable when you do all the right mods the right way. JMO

I like Chevy pickups much more than any of the others. But I won't buy a new one, (all three brands are ugly), and I won't buy a Dura-reck. My brother has a 2000 Chev 3/4 with the worthless 6.0 gasser w/ 55k miles on it. He wants a newer pickup so it might be a good swap truck. It'll need a little lift though, I've gotten used to sitting up a bit. ol

my dad has a '00 7.3 and the truck itself feels much better built and is a bit more comfortable to drive. Howeve, his is more modified and mine is virtually stock and I dont think his is a whole lot faster.

bottom line: (in my opinion)
-If you want an easy/cheaper go-fast truck then i'd say cummins, if you dont mind the dodge part.
- If you want a more comfortable rig thats still very reliable and can pull just about anything the cummins can, then go with the 7.3, but it probably wont be as fast unless you throw a whole lot of money at it.
- you cant really go wrong with either truck

IMHO, the best trucks ever made, thats why I bought one.

Chevy's feel vauge when driving to me, and the ride is stiffer than my dodge, and IFS sucks ballz

Fords are way too hard to work on and the quality is slipping way out of line. My dad had ford trucks all his life until he recently bought a chevy (all gas BTW I cant get him to convert) and his 92 ford was the best of all. The 99 he got had to wait forever to even get the truck after he ordered it, and the quality just was not there, truck was falling apart after 50K miles

Just my observations!!!

Good god, what kinda chevy did you drive? My 02 durmax IFS rode like a Cadillac (Oh wait, that's a GM product too) Want vague? Drive my 99 cummins. Coming to a stop will keep you on your toes. Seems to be a common problem though.

OH what about the wandering. Feels like your driving blitzed, or worse you drive straight when you're hammered.

Electrical- What doesn't go wrong
Drivers side window took a crap on me. Glass came out of the clips
Eventually the back doors will be f-ed and either not seal, or not close.
The powerlocks stopped working, then started working, then stopped working, then......
The doors only shut well when they're new, or if you're careful and your A-hole friends don't slam your doors for you.

I don't think the Dodge interior is the worst. Chevy "feels" the best, Ford seems the cheesiest. Chev's ride nice, Dodge/Ford=lumberwagon. Chev's handle the best by far, Ford is ok, dodge is CRAP!!

Talk about a thread going way off topic.

Some of you guys I don't know why you drive a Dodge. If the Fords and Chevys are so good buy one.

I like the Dodge/Cummins combo. Always been good to me and I plan to keep buying them.

i love my dodge. I would never buy a ford for one reason...my grandpa has a powerstroke that he had a chip in and which he doesn't even use anymore. 9 tranny's later. pretty bad for a truck that just hit 130k
