powerband characteristics of non-wiretap programmers

So like the title says, I'm interested to know the different curves that the brands offer. Currently I have an old Hypertech tuner that I run on the lowest setting, which is like 40 horse. Obviously, with no wiretap, the best we'll see is 65 horse or so. When I turn it up, the powerband comes on way sooner (like pre-boost), and it smokes too much for my liking.
What I'm looking for: a non-tap tuner that adds the most power late in the curve to avoid smoke. I'd like to see the best output after boost builds, maybe like 1700 RPM and up. Any recommendations?

They will all be about the same

If you want control get the Quadzilla Adrenaline and leave the Wiretap disconnected. You can make the powercurve however you like it.

This is all related to canbus fueling and where it comes on related to boost. Smoke is no longer an issue.

Very, very cool. That just about hits the nail on the head. However, if I didn't want to pay (IDK how much that cost), I am wondering the next best option. Thanks for the input. I know it's the best option out there, but if i wanted to get real awesome power, I'd get a common rail. I'd like to keep this old dog and possibly get a tuner for a few hundred bucks that'd fix my need for speed (for now).

There is nothing else that even comes close. All of the canbus tuners are going to be the same.

If anything the hypertech is less aggressive than other tuners that are similar. Hate to say it but unless you are willing to pony up for the Quad you might as well stay where you are.

It may have been "butt dyno" as someone here suggested, but I sure thought my truck ran better with the Quadzilla than it did with my Edge EZ even before I had the wire tap connected.
After connecting it, whoa nelly!!

Maybe a slightly smaller set of injectors. My first power mod was an Edge EZ and it didn't smoke much at all by itself. Maybe buy a new or used set of 50hp or75hp and sell your 100hp injectors.

I've been thinking about getting a Quad. But.....I know what will happen. I'll tap the wire.

Tapped now for over 10 years on the same pump. The whole wiretap is nothing but a scare tactic to make vendors money as they void warranties. I've ran both the Edge Comp for 10 years now going into my first year of Quad. Still tapped and nothing happened to the VP44.

Back to the OP. The problem I see with all other programmers on the market is the lack of adjustment for fuel vs boost and timing. Quadzilla is the only one now with way better control than Smarty or SuperChips could ever think of. Still in all Smarty being the most expensive tuner on the market dollar per HP but give so little control of fuel and timing. All programmers are limited to 60-65 HP period that's it...
