Question Quadzilla Stand-Alone Touch Screen Monitor

Hey All,
We are thinking of trying to design a stand-alone monitor that can also be used as a controller for the Adrenaline system. We are mulling over a few different options and would really like your feedback.

I'm going to post up a poll for information gathering purposes but here are the options.

Currently, we have our Adrenaline with control pod (not recommended) for just under $600 from our dealers. We have the iQuad/iQuadBT versions for right around $675 from our dealers (Prices as of today 2/8/2017). One with a touch screen controller would have to be priced right at about $1000 for the complete kit.
An add-on controller for those of you who already have your adrenaline will probably be in the $400 range.
Here are the poll options:
1. I would buy the full kit with monitor for $1000.
2. I would buy a 5" screen monitor add-on for $400
3. I would buy a 7" screen monitor add-on for $500
4. I would buy a stand-alone gauge display for $500.
5. I require Water Meth controller built into the display (as well as controls for my Adrenaline).
6. I don't require Water Meth controller but I think its totally awesome and may consider adding it to my truck and want the option on the controller.
7. There's no way I'm paying that much.

You should be able to choose more than one option so pick all that are applicable to you.

As much as it would be nice to have a stand alone controller (assuming it would look similar to the current app) I couldn't see paying more than I have already. However, I would suggest maybe a cell phone holder option. I think that's where the benefit of not supplying one making the price point better for the consumer.

I could see having the option of buying a standalone controller with it for those that are interested but also keeping the Bluetooth and WiFi for those that want to use other devices. The only real reason I would like having a standalone controller versus the phone or tablet is those don't seem to like the heat very much as I live in arizona

The only reason i would rather a screen is to get rid of ALL lag with the gauges and what not. This is the main reason I dont use the Quad for my primary gauges. Other than that I am happy with the Iquad on my iphone.

I LOVE the fact that I can take any andriod device and it works. I love that I can take the phone out of the truck into the house to tune, I love that I can take it under the truck to adjust fuel pressure or under the hood to troubleshoot sensor issues.

but I know a lot of guys don't agree with me, but I think a standalone screen is a VERY limiting device. I use my old phone for much more than just Iquad stuff. It runs google drive, a dash camera my gauges, my obdlink etc etc. all in one device for 10x less than a standalone screen.

Heat is a real issue. It has to do with the components used in the construction of the device. Unfortunately, if your cell phone can't handle the heat there is a good probability that the device won't handle the heat real well either.

The old edge CS screen that I had before I sold it to buy a quad never had problems. If I have to choose between a screen and tuning then I will take the quad tuning all day over the edge. Just saying they were somehow able to figure something out that wasn't as affected by the heat

I don't have one yet, but using any android device i want is an amazing feature. I wouldn't want a "oem" supplied screen.

I already have a android phone i saved for a quad if i even take the leap! Trans first though.

I think an oem monitor would be great, if nothing else, for the convenience of not having to turn it on or having to manually connect to the bt module. Also I've yet to find a way to mount my tablet that doesn't seem to clutter up the cab or look cobbled.

My old phone has been on for over a year now always running the iquad app. It auto connects as designed, never had that issue. But I am not a fan of the tablet sized devices. I like my little phone. It is plenty big enough to show everything.

I'm like @me78569 I like the cell phone idea. I've got my truck rigged up so I can play MP3's on my phone through my stereo, I can take phone calls while rolling (hands free through the stereo) and my Quadzilla can use the Bluetooth. It would be kind of nice if Quadzilla supplied a universal device holder maybe?

My created idea...

Personally. I'm not fond of the Edge Juice designed little screen and a-pillar setup at all. Now it limits the a-pillar to just that darn screen. No other gauges allowed so if you want other analog gauges your a-pillar is consumed by that one monitor. The Sad thing is you can pick up cheap 5-7" tablet all day long for under $100 bucks that are Android. So I would say look at providing a universal mount because $400-$500 for a screen is a bit much. Like my Azpen Tablet in the picture above was a mere $45 buck from TigerDirect.

in the days of tablets being had for $50, i really dont see this getting too much traction. but thats just me, there are plenty of people out there not competent enough to buy a tablet and install an app on it.
