Couldn't tell you. I'm missing that pitch in my hearing. My hearing aids only can amplify the pitches I still can hear at some level. But I ran a BHAF for about a year before going back to the stock air box, and that should flow similarly to this intake. I never got any complaints about whistle from my passengers. But when I had the silencer ring out of the turbo my sister said it had to go back in before I drove her to the other side of the country to get a tractor to bring home. She said the whistle was extremely loud and annoying with that removed from the turbo. I've kept it in ever since since there are no gains from removing it.

Same here I kept the silencer ring in after towing trailers for hours. The whistling noise is very annoying when you towing for hours. Even with a BHAF and silencer ring installed it runs rather quiet.

I would presume that because the S&B is encased in a box with the opening pointing towards the fender hole, it should be considerably quieter than a BHAF, even with the silencer ring removed. That said, I prefer the silencer ring out since I've had the habit of driving by sound ever since I raced motorcycles. I do better listening to the engine and the turbo in understanding whats going on under the hood more than watching gauges. Although I do agree that an obnoxious turbo can be terrible. I've heard some of those Powerstrokes that scream just cruising down the city street, strangely seemingly irrelevant to the engine RPM's too. That would be worth quieting up.....

That just means you're getting OLD!

The whistle of turbos is sweet music to my ears.

I often have the sound system turned off just to listen to them sing

Of course my BW turbos do sound better than powerjoke turbos

Why are still having these discussions? As bad as cam shafts, valve springs, and intercoolers.

I never ask people to read old posts about different things... Like looking back there is information even here that is old and invalid now because people have learned better ways or better products come out.

They don't even have to go back that far for most of it, even within a year the cold air discussion is still relevant.
