building it right

ok so ive had my truck for about 3 years now and ive decided to stop putting money in how it looks and start putting it in how it runs..... but i need some help. i already have a 6' stack but was wondering about a couple other things to boost up my HP. i have been thinking about the edge w/ attitude system and a AEM workhorse intake. i am running 38' tires with a 6' lift other then that i have a stock 2001 cummins 4x4 ext cab. automatic. the only thing im afraid of is too much HP and destroying my tranny. ive herd that the 2nd gen trucks are notorious for it. anyways if you guys have any ideas or products that youve tryed let me know. thanks in advance.
also i thought about the banks high ram intake with the workhorse? would it help or just a waste of money? thanks

The Banks high ram would be a waste until you get way up in the hp range. Pretty much any extra power will kill the tranny (I'm surprised it's still good with the big tires).
The most important thing is an Airdog or Raptor lift pump. It will protect your $1000+ VP44 injection pump. I really like my AEM intake and the Juice is a good box.

Then worry about the hp numbers. If not then you will be buying a new vp44 every other week lol

But the juice is a good box for our trucks, but once you add the power, you will almost certainly destroy the tranny

There are quite a few members that have swapped for a 5 or 6 speed. I have had good luck with my fass but airdogs are excellent pumps too. You need to do a valve body and torque converter. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge, how much psi are you seeing at WOT?

I have heard good things about the Banks high ram intake at least on the 3rd Gen. I plan on picking one up soon. The more air the better! That stock elbow is square square square.

i got most my stuff from Xtremediesel.com

i vote

-Airdog
-edge juice W/Att (that way you can keep an eye on everything also)

Tranny
-torque converter
-Valve body

that would be a good start. But after you start its hard to stop

If you have 15 psi and it doesn drop below 10 at WOT then your fine. If you already have gauges I would get an edge comp instead of the juice. You can usually pick one up in the classifieds at the top of the page for around $350.
