WELLLL.....remember my clutch post

It grenaded it thursday. i was on my way home pullin my horses, and it started slipping like mad when i was climbing this hill. had to put it in 4lo to get to the top. Got to the top and let it cool just enough to be able to take off and coast down the mountain to the next town. I was stuck 200 miles from home with my horses and a unmovable truck and 95 degrees. So after a long two days of getting another truck out there to get my horses home and driving back that night with a flatbed to get my truck i finally got it to a buddies shop to drop the tranny. When i dropped the tranny, the facing amterial fell out like a mouse nest and one of the fins dropped down. I totally grenaded that thing. Well while i was stuck i ordered a just a quickie clutch to get me moving as i have to drive the truck to work on monday. well once i get the clutch and measure it...its only 12" and i need the 13" clutch, sooo im down for another week since every store in town will have to order. So i might as well go with a Valair or Southbend. Im torn between the two and need dynamite evidence as to which one to get. I will have to call and talk to both on monday and hopefully i can get it to my house by next friday. Ill have pics in a couple days. At least i got towed home by a 96 12v lol4

call peter at south bend. i bought a USED SBDD 3600 12cb, with low miles. it happened to be a finger style clutch, and i wanted a diaphragm (because of the faster shifting). so i called peter to see how much the swap was going to cost me. i was shocked to hear his answer. if i payed shipping to south bend, he was going to swap it out and ship it back for FREE!! imo, nobody can even come close to a southbend. NOBODY!

South Bend / mahdey ROCK!!!!

Valair organic for me. My stock clutch was slipping even with the relatively light mods I've done. Several emails and phone call to John from Holland Court Diesel and here I am. It's exactly what I wanted. The clutch engagement is smooth for towing, and the pedal pressure is actually less than factory. My truck drives better than when I got it.

SBC CON series... The only way to go for a single disc IMHO.

either way you go you'll be happy. just call around and see who works the best with you. i love my valair kevlar/ceramic. holds really strong and got it for a heck of a price. i had a buddy that needed a clutch and i called dan and he's never talked to me before. told him what i needed and he made me a heck of a deal on the clutch and the hydraulics. he's a great guy and has helped me and alot of my friends out in the past.

Which ever you decide to go with, Invest in the upgraded Hydralics as well!

The stockers will fail with a higher plate load clutch

60k on my ConFE with no trouble. daily i drive with 350hp and i've dyno'd up to 435/1006. i on't baby the truck, but i don't drag race or pull either. 10k-13k trailers for probably 15k miles doing all of the mountain passes around Cali. Grapevine to LA (and Mexico), Hwy80 Donner Pass to Nevada, Siskiyou Mountains to Oregon and never an issue.
No personal experience with Valair, so I won't compare, but I LOVE my Southbend and the customer service when I bought it was SUPERB.
