1/4 mile times

I was wondering if you could get a 6 or 5-speed to get to about low 11s or high 10s? And if you had the same truck with a manuel in it and put a automatic in, what would be the difference in times?

It takes a LOT of power to get low 11s in trucks like ours, even if you could shift FAST I dont think the 5 and 6speed trannys would handle the power.

I know a guy with an auto truck, dyno'd about 730hp on the bottle and runs 11.80s pretty consistant on a good track. just a reference for ya....

like mathew8pt said, its going to take a 800+hp truck to crack low 11's. (i have looked into it a little)

the reason why manulas are slower, is they shift slower, and they loose boost between shifts. the best solution i found (so far) is a procharger/turbo setup. the procharger should help prevent you from loosing boost between shifts. and doing 3ed gear boosted launches should help you too.

then the problem becomes holding it together

to have a truck that can run that fast your gonna be going thru transmissions like crazy. the problem is you can't do much upgrading to the internals of these transmissions. basically just input and output shaft

Okay, thanks for the responses.

What does it take to get to 800hp? I know that as far as injectors go, you can get to 250hp injectors but what does it take to hold 800hp in the tranny.
