i have a 99 24 valve, and the injector pump is shot, i can only drive around town at about 20mph and slowly increases speed....sucks....i just want too know whats the name of the pump..is it (vp44), because i can get that one used for less that $300.00, off a recked 99 with 117k miles on it.....should i do it
P0216 means your VP44 is at death's door. Exhaust leak past the turbo wouldn't affect it's ability to build boost. Leaks that would affect boost would be - head to manifold seal, cracks in the manifold, manifold to turbo seal, and the turbo exhaust housing. On the charge air side, from the turbo compressor housing all the way to the intake of the engine. (several boots, pipes, and the intercooler between)
But that code really means your VP44 is dead. Especially with how it's acting. If it's that bad, I'm surprised it's still running.
