less boost doesnt actually mean less hp, so ask yourself why do i think i need more boost:
are the EGTs too high?
is there alot of smoke?

if you answered no, then you dont need more boost....

Great Post!

I my opinion, you should be able to push your stock turbo WAY out of its map with the 150s and Juice. You are getting the boost numbers from the Juice? I don't know why you are only seeing 27 psi.

I think you should be seeing A LOT more boost than that with your setup, BUT it would not be a good thing at all. You, like me, need a better turbo to use the fuel you are capable of.

I have the stock HX35, with the standard wastegate my psi was hitting 25-26, I unhooked the wastegate and am now hitting 34-35psi(i remember hitting 36 once), is this maximizing the use of the turbo or should I hook up the wastegate with a boost elbow to open at 34psi so that there is less restrictive exhaust flow?

Or would the boost just go down immediately after the wastegate opens?

J-Hook Assembly

http://www.tstproducts.com/pdffiles/PMInstr6.pdf Page 3, halfway down page, pics of (left to right) boost elbow on HX35, stock metal boost line on HY35, and HY35 with J hook installed. Also, installation intsructions for boost elbows and J hooks above and below pics!
The search forum function is also VERY helpful!!

Sorry Lonno, I guess I didn't explain it well enough. You have to have control of your wastegate to make more boost than stock, This is assuming you have higher than stock fueling. The way to control your wastegate, for your situation, is by installing a J-hook

Boost pressure is not indicative of cooling performance or power. Turbochargers have what is called a map. This states the efficiency of it's design. There is a finite amount of flow a turbocharger can produce without causing "hot air". Hot air is the excessive heating of the charge air. Once a turbocharger begins to exceed it's efficiency map, it increases the hot air. Hot air actually will begin to impede performance. Another portion of the map is the drive pressure and ratios. You may be able to fuel an HX35 into overspin to 50+ psi. But the hot air produced coupled with the extreme drive pressures tax the engine. Simply put, more pressure isn't "good". It needs to be done in moderation.

Generally accepted safe numbers for the HY/HX-35's are as follows:
HY35's are good to 32psi, and will begin to overspin at 35psi.
HX35's are good to 35psi, and will begin to overspin at 37psi.
Well put
