tranny temp. sensor

When the GB tranny got put in we had to take the sensor out and it wont fit in the new tranny b/c it has bigger servo's in it. Is there inything I can do besides putting it in the pan? Can I just cut the end of it off, or will that give me a messed up reading.

Thanks, PETE

I wouldn't cut the end or install it in one of the service ports. Put it in the hot line. You will have to fabricate the line or have a new one made with the npt adapter in it. I don't tow so a 100% accurate reading was not needed so I put it in the pan. Plus my Mag-hytec pan was pre-tapped for it.

The easiest place is in the tranny pan, but the most accurate is in the hot line coming out of the transmission.

check genos garage, they have a fitting that hold the sender and that fits tight against your hot line, giving you a more accurate reading than the pan.

I wonder how accurate that is. Response would be slow since the heat has to transfer through the metal. Sounds no better then a pan install.

This is what you want to get. It is an adapter for the hotline:
Vulcan Performance Vulcan Trans Temp Adaptor 94-02 Dodge
Eric at Vulcan Performance is a great guy to deal with!

Dude I could have used that like a month ago when I installed my tranny. Your supposed to keep me up to par with these products dude.

Ordered one cause I got lazy and just threw it in the pre-tapped hole in my mag-hytec pan. Didn't feel like running to All Hose for fittings and hasseling with it but I hate the slow response and no fluctuation of it being in the pan.

Thanks!:thumbsup
