Rpm gauge stop working

The morning I'm driving my truck to work all of the sudden my check light comes on and my rpm gauge isn't working but speedo is. The rpm gauge started working about a min or two after that.My superchip said there was nothing wrong go figure. I've started the truck up a few more times since then and everything is working just fine. Any help would be great

didn't do the key trick didn't that work on the trucks. And I'm not sure about the brake lights going off. This has happen before but I just chalk it up to the superchip tuner

Just replaced my crankshaft sensor today - and that is what happened to mine, the RPM would come and go randomly... pulling the codes on mine showed that it was the crankshaft sensor, don't remember the code.
