do you have the infinity system... The only think that i can think of is that the channel on the pre amp might have blown out or something on the stocker... what you could do is try and splice into the tweeter wiring and see if they work again? thats just an idea...

I doubt they both failed... speakers dont just "quit". Amps on the other hand do

from what i have read if you do not have tweeters than there is no amp. pull door panel test speaker with a 9 volt battery.

My drivers door speaker is dead also. I haven't had time to pull the panel yet. I'm suspecting a bad connection, or speaker.

i'll put it this way if you pull the speaker and on the back it says "AUDIOLATINA" then you can just plan on buying another speaker set, the design of these speakers is very poor. you can test it by pulling the plug of the back of the speaker and then use an multimeter/ohmmeter which if it is bad it will measure infinite. the 9volt battery test is just as effective if you don't have a multimeter, tap wire from 9 volt to speaker if it does not move at all speaker is shot.

if by a friggin miracle this test passes, then its either a broken wire in the door jam, or its the amp. the infinity systems which have the amp attached to the speaker and have a tweeter, have 7 wires connecting that mess. if your system is not an infinity but has a tweeter either you misidentified or you discovered something interesting.

not these, if you pull it out and compare to a typical speaker you can see what I will describe hear. the wiring for these is crap the gauge is too thin. you will see a thicker braided wire go from the plug to inside the cone. if you pop the black plastic off the face you will see two black coated traces running toward the center of the cone. this is where it fails. the magnetic wire used is too thin of a gauge and was never intended to be stuck on a constantly flexing vibrating surface. normally the thicker wire you see is run down to the base of the cone and then soldered to the voice coil, in this case they ran the mag wire up the inside of the cone after stripping the epoxy off so it can be soldered to the braided wire and coated with liquid electrical tape. this whole length will flex break and burn until there is absolutely no connection left. and since its such a thin gauge you wont even smell a problem cause it wont get hot enough to burn the liquid tape.
