Is a 1 Ton steering box different than a half ton steering box

I was wondering if a 1 ton steering box is different than a half ton steering box. The way i mean different is it more heavier duty than the half ton and if they are different can i put it on my half ton.

i have a ram 1500 1995 and a ram 2500 1999, the steering gear box are the same.

What about a 1 ton do you know?

They're the same.
If your still not sure, call Dodge and see if there's different part numbers.

I just looked up napa and autozone part numbers for ya and they are both different. 1 ton gas or diesel from napa or autozone is p.n. 88278136 or 7547. For a 1/2 ton its 88278122 or 7533 and the prices are different as well. Could be as simple as the heavier one has a lower ratio. Find someone with a 1 ton and count the splines on both shafts. If they're the same as yours I would think it would work fine.

My bad.....I didn't read the OP right.....and its too late for me. I thought you asked about a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton.
