Just pulled the stockers out of the '01 this fall, I guess they did pretty good. Replaced them with a set of Odyssey's, I've had no experience with this brand but so far so good. Hopefully nobody has any Odyssey horror stories

Cant go wrong with a pair of Interstate group 31's. Not overly expensive and they are awesome batteries

I have 2 optima yellow tops and they fit and work great. If you have a costco near by they have a great price. I have optimas on all my rides and never had any type of problem. And by the way just this last Christmas I was visiting family in Gunnison CO and my 2001 2500 starts just fine at -23 degrees with out being pluged in with those batteries.

load test those old ones after an overnight trickle charge.
your cantankerous starting issues could be solenoid contacts or motor brush related.
I am running the schucks inhouse brand for the last 4 years, just load tested last month and they are within spec.

hi
for me the red optima are the best , i have those battery in my ram cummins since 1999 until now!!! and run perfect, i have the same (two in serie 24v) on my tugboat since 2003 and allways ok , engine is a caterpillar 850 HP (BUT you must have good connections to starter, and a good working engine) and two on my farm tractor John deere 4955 ,210HP(no problem) i think i am winner, other battery run max 4 years for a little less money.
that's my opinion
friendly regards
Thierry

Just put two Walmart Everstart Maxx 65 batteries in the truck. Three year full replacement warranty. Guess we'll see...
