Blowby Hose Size?

What size is the blowby hose on our trucks? I want to put a double ended barb fitting on with a hose extension so it will drip on the ground instead of my truck. Thanks

Harley

You could do that...

It's 3/4" heater hose... At least what I used on my truck..

But I did a little something different to keep the oil off my radiator and front of my engine...

Here is the link for the Crankcase Vent I built...
http://www.frontiernet.net/~mopar197...kcase_vent.htm

Tested and Proven to work... :thumbsup

I just used a 6"-8" Black PVC threaded nipple and it twisted right up inside the stock tube. Puts the end just below the axle level and blends right in so that it looks like it belongs there. I do like Mopar1973's idea there but I was lazy and took the quick way.

the only reason why I suggest it is because it you do any kind of off-roading your going to get oil spillage. If you extend the hose straight down you'll never know that you spilled a large amount of oil.. Large enough to cause engine damage.

I wonder why this TSB was created then...
TSB 09-002-02 - Crankcase Breather Overflow

But in my method you'll never spill a drop of oil... And it doesn't require serious mods to your truck and it cost about $11 bucks to build. It don't drip on my garage floor either...:thumbsup

Actually I just got done updating that web page listed above... There is actually two TSBs for the stock crankcase vent... And my little CCV fixes both...

TSB (09-002-02 Crankcase Breather Overflow)
TSB 09-02-00 (A Heavy Oil Or Fuel-Like Odor Coming From the Diesel Engine Compartment)

The only reason I did go with the TSB fix was I didn't want to invest a full day to take my truck back to the dealer it rip it apart and add the TSB CCV... So I produced one for like I said $11 bucks... Really easy... :thumbsup

If you pay for it... The last time I seen the DC version it was about $300 for the kit...

But here is someone else loking for it too and the price...

Just for the fun of it, yesterday I stop in the dealership to ask what is the price for the kit to eliminate pill bottle. kit # 05093017AA. They want $500 for it. That is insane. He show me the kit, contain one steel plate, clear plastic hose and some kind of round cap. I ask them, if is cover by the warranty, but person who handle warranty was not there. Maybe I stop there again, will be interesting to know, if is covered. Did anybody try this kit ?

Do you have pics of how the PVC attaches to the front, and where does it end?
Thanks!

Thes are older pics of my firest version... Here is the hook up of the crankcase..

Here is where it dumps out at... Notice the angled cut PVC pipe... The starter is just foreward from that...

I see. Thanks!
That is the stock piece that the hose is attached to?
Could you have used black PVC the whole way?

I used a piece of flexible vinyl tubing so it flex a bit... The tubing is like 6" long at the most... Not really all that long...

Really you could add another fitting to ge closer but the anlge is hard to get straighten out...

And yes that is the stock breather port on the gear case...
