I've Tried using...

Carb. Cleaner... Works good...
Lacquer Thinner... Works good too but dries fast...
Brake Cleaner... Works really good...

Make sure you blow all the cleaner off before installing the sensor...:thumbsup

Best thing would be electrical contact cleaner - it does not leave any residue

You got it! :thumbsup

I try to hit mine with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol every time I clean/re-oil my air filter. About once a year I guess. I never really get any gunk off of it, but it makes me feel better.

I think I pulled mine out at about 100K and it was still white. I gave it a shot of brake cleaner, anyways.

Both of you don't have exhaust brakes on your truck... So this really doesn't apply to you. Now as you seen on my web page how blck and oily the two sensor look.. That is with in the time of a oil change (6K miles). So every oil change those two sensors get pulled out and cleaned.

As for amount of use I get out of the Jake... Well my brake shoes have over 50% of the pads left. I live is a mountain area where you might drive 3 miles up hill and gain 4K - 5K feet in elevation. Its a real brake saver! :thumbsup

So why does the Jake do this??? Well when its activated your basically plugging the exhaust up. So when exhaust time comes for a cylinder it can't vent out the exhaust manifold so its trapped till intake time again. So its pushing exhaust out the intake a bit... Scattering bit of oil and soot in the manifold...

I know why it gets gunked up. But you can't tell me you haven't tinkered with your truck just because you can. Lol.

I've been caught RED HANDED or in this case WRENCH HANDED...

I'm always looking to get that extra little bit out of the engine on my truck. Being I've got to travel long distances (75 miles round trip) just to go grocery shopping. So in my case its not about the power... It's about the MPG...:thumbsup
