Ok, I have been looking into putting an aftermarket pump on my 01. Its all stock right now. I have looked at the FASS and this set-up, how do they compare? I like the price of this. I was going to go with the FASS, but if this is as good or better then I will go this way,. I'm new to this so any advice will be well taken. I will call Wide Open tomorrow and talk to them, any info I get here would be great. Thanks, Richard |

Well, I got about 12,000 miles out of mine. Around the same as I was getting from a Carter. Obviously I was hoping for a better result. I don't have the draw straw so I'm going to install that and see if it helps prolong the life of the new pump. The only thing I can think of is that there's some restriction in the tank screen that's causing the pump to work too hard. Although the fuel runs out in a hurry when I pull the line off.

Thats Terrible. I am sorry to here that.I do not understand why some stock lift pumps last years and others dont..I got 104 out of my stock lift pump.I just got turned on to this forum last month.Since I joined I heard all the problems with lift pumps.Mine was working fine but I got scared and bought the Big Dog.I take care of my stuff and I no others do.Why does a system last 104 k miles for some and 12 k for others?Possibly we only here about the bad ones.It does not make sense to me.Perhaps someone else can explain it to me.

I've had a the Walbro for a while too. I did my return line a little different. I ran a rubber fuel hose from my draw straw II to my pump, and used my old hard supply line as my new return from the pump. Its looks really clean. Mine was set at the "16" as well. No issues with it. Just another truck with a walbro. :thumbsup

orded the afs big dog kit from jason ad wideopendiesel and only thing i can say is good things about him. I did have one fitting missing but wasnt a biggie picked one up at local hardware place and was on my way installing mine. Only problems i've ran in to is my fuel lpressure keeps changing. On installing the draw straw i drilled out the bottom hole for the straw to go threw and two other access holes on side of the other hold for flow. But i didnt install the little screen back on the bottom. Do you have install that back?
