High EGT's?
ok i got to know if i have a egt problem. whenever i take off from a stop in town under normal acceleration my egts seem to get up to like 700-800 degrees. when i get on the highway and the truck hits torque coverter lockup it will hit 1000 easy. based on my sig. is this how it is for my mods or is there something wrong here? im also going to be putting a hx40 in and want to know if it will help. are there any other ways to help controlly my egts?

bigger turbo,water/meth helps but a bigger turbo should help you,i run around 500-600 in town and 700-800 on the highway, cruising of course, under acceleration within reason like on an on ramp or something i will hit 1100 for a little bit but it drops back down to around 700.These are without my water/meth.

you deffinately need a bigger turbo, thats why your egt's are high, you are running stage five injectors on a stock turbo, thats asking for trouble...

and have never presented good reasons why they are bad, and have sighted no specific instances where they have caused damage or harm . Me and my dad both run K&N's on our 06' 5.9's. I have 70,000 trouble free miles and he has 75k.

Oh, and those EGT numbers are very normal. I can't even run my hot unlock cuz it hits 1,500 in a few seconds and defuels. I'm switching to 35's (to decrease the load) and getting a manifold. Hopefully this will remedy the situation.

Now so I don't derail this thread any further, when you cram a lot of fuel with not near enough air(which is what permits the burning of the fuel) you get unused energy (HEAT) escaping the cylinder chamber. This is what causes unmanageable egt's. To simplify.....as said before, get that bigger turbo on soon.
