It finally happened...Forced regen while sitting still.

It finally happened, yesterday. It has been cold, I have been moving my truck 44.9 feet every 7 minutes. (I am on a pipeline.) The truck was in low range and idled all day. After about three hours of idling for 7 minutes and then driving 44.9 feet, I saw on the overhead display that there was an "Exhaust system" problem. It said that it was 80% full and recommended a regeneration. Then it got to 90% and I started to get nervous.

I set the high idle feature, and set the RPM's to 2000. A regen initiated while it was sitting. The overhead said "regen in process." After another 7 minutes, the percentage dropped to 80% then another 10 minutes to 70%. For the rest of the day, I was able to balance the percentage with certain times of high idle at 2000 rpm.

At the end of work the percent meter said 70%. I dropped my helper off and got on the freeway headed to the house. After 12 minutes on the freeway at 63 mph, the overhead said "regen complete."

This morning the truck ran really strong. After some more idle and drive 44.9 feet, I thought that if I set the idle at 1000 rpm's that it wouldn't clog up again. Instead it blew a really light colored smoke. I don't know if it was white or grey. But it was obvious, and made people comment.

What is the smoke? Does anybody know? I can't survive a winter if my truck isn't running.

All comments are appreciated.
