You are correct.
I tried it on a '03, you can't do it without getting major, everything has been switched around.

You'll know if you got the wrong side if:
1) Your windows no longer work, key off or on.
2) Your heater fan runs without the key.

A test light is better though. With the key on, fuses removed the load side is the side that doesn't light your probe.

On mine I put the jumper on the left side of the fuses (towards the engine) my windows and heater fan work with the key off and I think the backup lights work with the key off now too, what did I do wrong?

I wanted mine hot in accesory only so I Jumpered off fuse 15 and voila.....

The only bad part is it sets a P0500 code when you use the accesory position. I guess its backfeeding the blower motor and everything on the power window circuit in accesory mode.

Exclamation WARNING! - 2nd Gen Trucks -

WARNING!
2nd Gen Trucks with lighted door controls!
Anyone that has lighted door controls takes a great risk of killing your battery! The light remain on all the time on the door panels if you do the jumper trick. I've tought long and hard about another way... But alias there really isn't much of one... The most I can add is jump to accesiory fuse to the windows breaker... At least when the key is ON or ACC you'll have windows.

Couldn't you just take the bulb out of the switch?
It would bug me to have them lighted anyway.
This is the 12 valve section also, none of the 12 valves had lighting.

My bad... Yes I'm in a 1st gen area...

But this was my find in regards to this topic... As for pulling the bulbs... You would have to pull apart the door panels and find them.. Which I think is more trouble than it's worth... Being we have those plastic fastners...:fist:

Mikey, you are not in the first gen area....the 94-98 12Vs are still second gens as are the 98-02 24V's.
