It's not to awful hard. On mine there is a spin off top and you pull the filter out. Not sure about a 12valve.

Us 12v guys aren't so lucky there shortbus.............

The 94s have the ones that spin on like the oil filter and you need a another joint b/w your wrist and elbow to make it easy to reach under the master cylinder and up to the filter. But it can be done w/o the extra joint.

The trick that makes changing the filter on a pre '97 with vacuum assist brakes a breeze is to remove the two nuts that hold the brake master cylinder to the booster. Even though it doesn't look like it the whole master will then move easily towards the driver's side giving you a ton of room to work. With this method the spin-on type filter is much easier to change than the newer cartridge type.

Another trick I use that makes it easier is to open the bleed screw on top of the filter mount then pressurize the fuel tank with compressed air, 10 psi max, though the fill spout. You can use a blow gun wrapped in a rag or make what I have, an old fuel cap with an air chuck tapped into the top.
With this method it takes about 15 seconds to fill and purge the air from an empty new filter.
Sure beats pumping the primer button for half an hour.

Remember to clean the bottom of the sediment bowl and the sensor prongs for the water in fuel while you have it off.

Did it yetsterday took about 10mins, as easy as changeing the oil filter but you have to have a good filter wrench, I also did it while spilling as much fuel as possible but I was in a spot where I could spill without and problems.
