Ok so apparently this doesn't work on my truck. Everything went (fairly) smoothly, and when I was done, the throttle always wants to return to idle. No way of holding it open....apparently the spring is too strong? Anybody know if the dealer can change a setting on my 2001 so I can use the cruise control buttons?

Platinum Powerstroke Mod

There was an IDLE up option installed on an 80's model GMC Sierra 3500 Camper package conversion to a flatbed car hauler. It has a Carb'd 350 w/ manual trans. The cable was rigged directly to the throttle with a small necklace looking chain that broke. I replace the chain with 3 heavyduty zip ties (2 were zipped tight to hold the other one in between). Works like a charm and I can either idle it up 1-300 rpm's or pull her wide open (not that I'd need to) to operate the bed/winch - it's really fast now! I plan on doing this to my jeep too after mounting the winch so that I can idle her up while pullin people out!

i have done the same with a locking cable and it works great. the only thing different was i put the cable on the right side of the column so its a straight line to the pedal. but regardless works great....
