Valve guides? Sure hope not. I'm new to Cummins but have lots of diesels.
At or just below freezing and to a lesser extent above freezing I get blue smoke at start up. When you start it the pre heater cycles okay and it fires right up, engine stumbles and misses and blows blueish (mixture of white and blue but more blue)then smooths out in about 5 seconds and is fine for the rest of the day on hot starts. No excessive oil consumption, great mileage and motor runs strong. 154km on engine. I've only had it a few months. Even during the summer I would get a puff of blue smoke at start up then it cleared right away. Any thoughts?
dont worry about it very normall. i had a vw rabbit pickup that was so tired that even in the summer it smoked blue until it warmed up, it burnt a little oil, nothing to worry about thou.
