I have a 94 12v automatic 4x4 #100 fuel plate 4"turbo back straight pipe billet converter shift kit. I just put a new block heater in thinkin it would solve my problem but it didn't help. If the temp outside gets under ~40f truck will fire right up after cycling grid heater then after about 5 minutes it'll start running really rough and if I don't pedal it it'll die and sometimes that won't save it. I hear a different possibility from every person I ask and don't really want to spend a lot of money replacing parts I don't need to replace
Mine was doing that 2 years ago it was my fuel filter had a pin hole in it letting air into the fuel system.
Also a leak in the fuel line would have the same results.
I replaced the 3/8 rubber line last night but I lost one of the hose clamps so I have tried firing it yet. And if that's not it then I have a new lift pump I can try
Well I was bleeding the fuel system and when we cracked the injectors they were hardly even tight, I'll be back out there tomorrow and I'll keep you guys posted
Well I try to prime the lift pump and it's definitely moving fuel but it's making a squeaking sound somewhere around the injection pump after pumping the button about ten times, and it is not wanting to fire at all. I hate the thought of it but I'm thinking it the injection pumps bad....
Make sure the shutdown solenoid linkage isn't spinning on the shaft where it goes into the pump.
There is a very small key that can sometimes fall out and cause problems.
Assuming the batteries had enough charge to crank it good and either or WD didn't get it to fire the only thing it could be is your timing is way, way off.
Check your fuel heater as well. Contacts may be burned out lettin air in. Seals may also be shot and letting air in. Could be any of those but thats a good place to start. The seals are cheap. I ran into this issue a lil while back and that was my issue. I just left the heater off and put the fuel bowl back on
I've been out of state for awhile and haven't been able to work on it, I got back and found the seal in the primer button on new lift pump was bad so I got another one, also my fuel heater temp sensor was shorted out at the top of the heater but I'm deleting that all together
