I do not know about the straps, but in general you want good grounding batteries-to-body (14-10 gauge wire or similar, each battery), and batteries-to-engine (2/0 or better, each battery).
Something body-to-frame won't hurt either. A lot of rigs I've worked on have also had a strap between the intake/valve cover and the firewall, giving you an engine-body ground.
