wastegate trashed?

ok so i was driving today and rolled some coal and instead of my wastegate wooshing it kinda clunked. then if i just gave it a little boost and got out of it it would spool down instead of relieving the pressure and when i gave it a good amount of boost and got out of it it clunked again. can anyone help, im a diesel and turbo newb but i know my way around a gas motor. from what i understand the wastegate is built in to the turbo so is the whole turbo trash or can i rebuild/replace the wastegate? i was planning on buying a b2 to run compounds this week but this kinda throws a wrench into things.

The turbine housing is a part, as is the cartridge, wheels, shafts, etc, they are all just a bunch of parts. They can be replaced.

I agree though, I don't see how this is a problem if you don't want to use the turbo next week

I've got a stock turbine housing w/ good wastegate, so if you need one let me know.

i was gonna run compounds with the stock hx35 as the top turbo. and id rather not just get a big single and loose the quick spoolup. but if i cant get my stuff straight i might be asking you about the stock housing. thanx

Sorry about that, I had a brain fart, the B2 is an s400 I was thinking of a B1 s300, my mistake

You should be able to test the wastegate with shop air to see if it travels, and if you take the E-clip off you can operate the flapper by hand to make sure it moves freely. You can buy upgraded wastegate actuators also.

When you use the stock turbo in twins, make sure to modify the wasteagte to get it to vent all six cylinders.
