I definitely wouldn't use it. I get mine from either the Chevy or Dodge Stealerships. My local Chevy dealership was 10 or 12 bucks cheaper than the local Dodge outfit. I can't remember what I paid for it though.
I know I will get flamed for this but I used valvoline 75w-90 syngear lube when I changed mine in my 94 about 14 years ago and I have about 120,000 miles on that lube and it still shifts great with no gear clash or noise of any kind. I keep an eye on the level and it is still a light amber color. I don't know if this helps you but this is what has worked for me so this is what I will continue to use.
I've seen it, but I wouldn't use it. Even the R Purple I've used in the past is suspect, stick with the OEM Castrol if you want it to live. A good GL-4 is hard to come by, Amsoil might be another to try.
ok what you want to use is any GL-4 because there are brass synchronizers in any NV4500
GL-4 prevents Corrosion on the shims and synchronizers. better smooth shifting i use Redline MT-90 75W90 GL-4
The syncros in a 4500 are carbon fiber and are the reason for the special lube.
Other GL-4 lubes are like acid to the sycros.
It might take 100k miles or more but they WILL fail.
