okay ive scratched my head passed the transmission fluid to the bone, i need help PLEASE! let me start by saying this is my daily driver and i drove it everyday when i first bought it and it always took forever to shift out of any gear but i installed the lock up switch and didnt really worry myself with it, i got water in my transmission so i burnt up my clutches and bought myself a PREMIUM over haul kit. me and a freind (i just stayed out of the way) rebuilt it and installed the kit, put it all in the parts washer you name it. (seals clutches). installed about 3.5 gallons of fluid and drove it it was rough in the first couple days as the TC would get in a bine and clunk but after while (3rd day) the transmission road like a dream and was more than happy with it til today. i noticed it hardly tryin to shift into overdrive and starting to feel like i was doing alot more revin and a little less gettin somewhere til then it would not shift out of gear at all. wouldnt go over about 40mph and would hit about 3 grand. dipstick was hot fluid smelt a little toasty but not to bad, pulled the pan and didnt really see much of anything besides a couple pieces of the old gasket and a little trash filter didnt seem clogged fluid looked good so can someone please help any advise helps:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I know that if you made a mistake in assembly you will rev up instead of going into gear nicely. If you installed your clutches wrong they may be toast. If you did not install friction steel, friction, steel and instead put together 2 frictions and 2 steels that can require new clutches as you burned up the old ones.

When the transmission was being rebuilt did you air check it? Did you check the pump to make sure it was within specifications?

I would question the pump or the tc first if the tc acted funky. I hope it was installed correctly. Then again you also need to check your electronics.

Although this is for the 1996 up trucks it may help to point you in the right direction.
