Fuel leak
When after I finished putting on my new fuel filter 2 nights ago I noticed I had a small puddle of fuel on my driveway, so today I went to take a look and Its leaking on the driver side above the starter but below the filter, right on or very near where the fuel transfer pump is, i can't see it from the top and the starter blocks my view from below. Anyone have an idea of this? I'm going to take the starter off tmr and take a look see.

It might the fuel heater or the lift pumps o-rings have gone out. The heater is just above the fuel pre-filter screen, and is worthless, so just take the pre-filter houwing off (17mm?) then use an allen key and take the heater out. The pre-filter will screw back in without it. If its the lift pump, I think it will be easiest to just buy a new one. I hear Cummins sells them for around $90. And there may be a high output on availble from a different application, but the stock filter might not flow enough anyways. And read this: Joe G's fuel system writeup

Well the heater is a bit dirty, but dry. I will take it apart and clean it tmr, the leak seems to be coming from the pump area, but i can't see it better until the starter comes off, if its a line (hopefully) i can make another one, same with a gasket.

I've had lot's of problems with this in the past. It may be the water drain cock at the bottom. Sometimes the O-ring does not seat properly. Another is the canister itself. I have had leaks at the rims that are crimped over and one filter actually spun where it was crimped. You may have to chuck that one. Protect your starter............the fuel will sack it out.

I had the engine running when i was watching the leak and it is not coming from the filter (although that was my first suspicion), the fuel runs down the side of the engine/oil pan, this is no fun.

Well after a closer in depth look the leak is coming from the pump itself at it's base, perhaps the gaskets? I will order a new rubber hose, both gaskets and a new pump (hopefully not a pricey item?) and will clean the heater throughly this week at the same time.
