your thread caught my attention, because thats the clutch im about to buy... Kevin at Valair reccomended it to me for my application, due to the tire size i have, and stock gears, and that i tow a 7500lb travel trailer around all summer and i HAVE to slip the clutch a tiny bit in some instances. And while Dan is on this thread too... i have a question for ya. Im also a retard (LOL) and i like my burnouts, not with 38.5's but with 33's and smaller.

But to the question, whats the proper way to break in a clutch to get the most life out of it?

Definatly nothing wrong with a good burnout Im sure dan will speak up here, but when I called him and talked to him about proper break in, he told me to go pull some long grade hills, lay into it slightly, not too much. but enough to were it is working the clutch, but not spinning out of control, or much at all really. He also advised me if you dont have hills, you can hook onto a light trailer, drive around, or just stop and go driving, he said dont however just get on the highway and drive 65 constant speed. Hope I said all this right, if not, im sure dan will set it straight.

Burnout's aren't retarded, but when you do them around poles and drive towards the camera man, then it gets retarded. IMO.

All it takes is 1 accident. That 1 accident will ruin all of the fun you've had up to that point and after that point, unless you're an 18 year old that just doesn't give a f*ck.

I guess life changes in a drastic 360 degrees when you have children.

I'm now done with this post.

Stop and go traffic for 500 or so miles and get it in high gear and roll into the throttle slightly and let the clutch slip ever so slightly this will help to seat it together. As long as you don't stick it on a load dyno and try to make a dyno run as soon as you put the clutch in you shouldnt have a problem with one of dans clutches.

sweet, thanks for the heads up guys! You all seem to say the same thing for break in, so im guessing Dan will agree. And when i say burnouts are retarted, im just kidding. I love them, ive been doing them since i was 15 on my riding lawnmower....... i used to tie the lawnmower to the wall in the garage, and let the clutch out and burn the lawnmower tires off.

450 horsepower working and 450 hp playing are to different things. im 20 and i can honstley say i have never felt the urg to power break anything i guess i have enough troubles trying to keep everything on the farm in one peice. i garentee if you give some of the stupid kids out there any of your trucks theyd have the whole drive line riped out of it in a week.

with that said ive put 3 clutches in my truck the first at 69k when i rebuilt the traney(free stock clutch) the second with 189k then the one on on now at 200k ive ran this one for 30k with no problems but a DD is in my future ive got 4 hooks and drug god only knows how many wagons on this single!!

as far as burnouts go, more power to ya just hope ya like buying tires and clutch/traneys
