Tranny searching for gear??

HI, I have a 95 dodge 3500 with the 5.9L cummins. The truck has 200,000 miles on it. The only mod I am aware of is a banks exhaust system. The transmission seem to always be searching for the right gear, but never finding it. It doesnt seem to matter whether its in overdrive or not it just wont make up its mind. Also, My transmission temperature light goes on and off. It doesnt seem to matter whether its just sitting idling or I am driving up a hill, sometimes the light will be on and other times it wont. Thanks, Dave

Sounds like your trans temp sender either needs replacing or the connections are dirty.
Sensor is located in the output line to the cooler, driver's side about a foot forward of the tranny. Unplug the connector there and clean it up, see if that helps.
