has anybody ever just swapped the input shaft and the bell housing from a dodge v-8 1 1/8" to the cummins input shaft 1 1/4" and bell housing... are those the only two things that are different

i have always wondered the same thing
if this could be done or even the 1 3/8 shaft then you could go with a DD for truck pulling or even drag racing gassers

the v8 nv4500 has a smaller main shaft.. The v-10 and diesel ahve a 29 spline main shaft and the v8 has the 23 spline.. The advantage is you can use a t case from an auto truck with a v-8 nv 4500 but you have the smaller main shaft.. Go to NV4500 Transmissions - Adapters - NV4500 Conversion Kits | NV4500.COM and they have all the info you would ever need.

Swaping input shaft is mostly done in the conversions. I for example have a 96+ NV4500 in my 98 Chevy Silverado, and I'm swapping in a 1 3/8 input shaft in place of the stock 1 1/8 input, and putting in a SBC 3850 dual disk, and bolting a Dodge bellhousing to all of it. As stated before the main shafts are different in the Chevy, Dodge HD, and Dodge Std NV4500's.
