If you have a billet input shaft then shifting with the converter locked is not supposed to damage it. If you have a manual switch you should be able to lock the converter in any gear but 1st.

I ended up taking the truck to a trans shop yesterday, and i hope i get the same answer from them, that is also what i was kinda thinking and im hopin it will be a lesser expensive fix.

thanx for the help, i will post up when i get some sort of solution

i can lock up in any gear including 1st as well

Some valve bodies will allow for lockup in first and some won't. It depends on what you've got...

my truck also turns out to be of the special build period where i have to reflash the PCM for the lockup to work properly. so that gets done this week

so the trans shop called and he says that the trans needs to be gone through and he is going to put in a heavy duty tq converter...$1400.00....

this is a very reputable shop.... he did a friends 01 2500, and has done several gas powered trucks and cars for me...
